UPDATE: Shannon Elementary school off lockdown

Shannon Elementary School was under lockdown briefly this morning while authorities chased a man accused of stealing a car.

Authorities arrested Sammy Jones around 11:55 a.m. Thursday. Jones is in the Lee County Jail.

The man was accused of stealing a car in Verona and was armed so the school was locked down as a precaution.

Law enforcement officers from Lee County, Plantersville, Verona, and Nettleton helped in the search.
