Viking Range founder gets honorary doctorate at Delta State

CLEVELAND — Delta State University has given an honorary doctorate to Fred Carl Jr., the founder of Viking Range Corp.

Carl, whose time at Delta State was interrupted by service in the Vietnam War, has a bachelor's degree in business from the university.

Delta State the university awarded him an honorary doctor of science degree at Saturday's commencement.

Viking's upscale home kitchen appliances are sold around North America and in more than 80 other countries.
