Davis won the GumTree Festival's Best in Show award. Her "Petite Sacre Mosaiques," or small holy mosaics, are micro mosaic works of art encased in antique watch cases she restores and enamels herself.
Davis, a Tupelo native who has lived in Pensacola, Fla., for more than 20 years, began creating her artwork after suffering a stroke in her 20s. Festival attendees pored over her intricate designs, which were fashioned into rings, bracelets and necklaces.
"It's been an excellent, excellent show, and I've seen a lot of old friends to boot," she said.
This year's GumTree Festival featured a variety of artwork, from jewelry to sculpture to paintings to pottery and everything in between. A steady stream of musicians and dancers kept the stage areas busy.
This year's GumTree Festival was also a first for its director, Kit Stafford.
She said she thought the festival went well.
"I feel like I'm the student this year, and I'm learning and hopefully living up to GumTree standards," she said.
It was also the first GumTree for weaver Jenny Ingram, who showed at this year's festival partly because she had friends in Tupelo who had encouraged her to check out the festival.
She sold scarves, ebook readers, bookmarks, purses and more, all made from silk, cotton, linen, tinsel and other fabrics. The fabrics are colored using all-natural dyes, like onion skin, chamomile, lichen, birch and rosemary.
"I love it," Ingram said of the festival. "Everyone seems very appreciative of my work."
This year marked jewelry-maker Laurie Mattingly's third year at GumTree.
The Memphian's Isabelle Designs, which focused on semi-precious stones and sterling silver, drew plenty of customers.
"This is a great festival," she said. "I love the people here."
