IUKA – First a new job and then a new last name.

Lauren Ford was officially hired as Tishomingo County High’s girls head basketball coach on Monday night.

The 26-year-old daughter of recently retired Northeast Mississippi Community College women’s coach Ricky Ford had been coaching at Center Hill the past four seasons as a varsity assistant and head middle school coach.

Ford will marry Josh Whitson, the boys basketball coach at Vine Christian Academy in Booneville, in July.

“I’ll be Coach Whitson,” Ford said of her upcoming name change.
