Tupelo Police make arrest after stabbing

Wednesday at around 7:30 p.m., Tupelo Police responded to a call involving a person being stabbed, according to Tupelo Police Chief Tony Carleton.

When officers arrived they found Gasper Alonzo, 24, with several stab wounds to the body. Police are not releasing the victims name at this time.

The victim is currently at North Mississippi Medical Center recovering from his wounds, He is listed in stable condition. The victim had seven stab wounds, according to police.

At around 1:30 a.m. this morning the suspect, Samuel Perez, 23, was taken into custody on charges of aggravated assault. His bond was set at $500,000.

Tupelo Police are still investigating a motive for this assault.
