Hallie Brister has spent the last several weeks organizing a benefit for storm victims and has a line up in place of music and entertainment for all ages.
"After you go out and help clean up, you just ask, 'What else can I do?'" Brister said. "After all the devastation, this will be a fun-filled day for the community.
"I feel like a lot of people don't know what else they can do to help," Brister said. "So this is one way we can let people out there know that we do care and we are here to help you in every way possible."
The day of fun will begin with a 5K run at 8 a.m. with $20 registration fee. Barbecue plates will be available for purchase beginning at 11 a.m. and Mitchell Johnson will provide entertainment with his Elvis impersonation at 3 p.m. Puddle Jumpers will be on site with inflatables for the children.
Brother Randy Rinehart of Parkway Baptist Church will lead prayer and the National Anthem at 4 p.m., followed by more entertainment by Bro. Ray Walker and the Parkway Quartet, Brian Poteete, Jeff Hollingsworth and Chris Hester and Molly May. An auction begins at 6 p.m.
T-shirts will be on sale and concessions will be available for purchase.
Proceeds will be distributed through the Greater Houston Area Ministerial Association for those affected by the recent storms and tornados.
Donations are still being sought for concessions and auction items. For information or to help, contact Brister at 542-0758.
