An early Saturday morning accident has claimed the life of a Burnsville man and seriously injured his passenger in Tishomingo County.

State troopers responded to the intersection of Mississippi Highway 365 and County Road 294 about 8 a.m.

Highway Patrolman Ray Hall said Rickey Worley, 27, of Burnsville, was attempting to turn off County Road 294 onto Hwy. 365, when he apparently lost control of his vehicle. It overturned and collided into an embankment. Worley was pronounced dead on the scene.

Joseph Kain, 19, of Burnsville, a passenger in Worley’s vehicle, was transported to North Mississippi Medical Center with serious injuries.

Neither Worley nor Kain was wearing a seat belt.

The accident is under investigation.
