ATLANTA - Freshman center fielder and leadoff man C.T. Bradford was named regional MVP, and he tore it up all weekend: 7 of 13 with a double, triple, five RBIs and three runs scored.

He had three hits and four RBIs in Mississippi State's 7-3 win over Georgia Tech Sunday to help the Bulldogs clinch the NCAA Regional.

"I've gone up there with the mindset of make them throw many pitches as I can and let my teammates see his arm slot and see his timing and all that," Bradford said. "It just worked out. I'm seeing it well."

Bradford was one of seven Bulldogs named to the all-regional team. The others were Brent Brownlee, Cody Freeman, Evan Mitchell, Nick Routt, Jaron Shepherd and Nick Vickerson.

Southern Miss pitcher Todd McInnis, who tossed a complete game in his team's loss to MSU on Friday, also made the team.

On script

- It all went according to plan.

That doesn't happen a lot, but MSU coach John Cohen was sure glad to see it come together Sunday.

Starter Nick Routt attacked the strike zone with his fastball and was very economic, throwing 114 pitches in nine innings of work. State played great defense, got timely hitting, moved runners over.

"Everything we wanted to do, everything we scripted out - almost everything - went the way we wanted it to," Cohen said.

Vickerson clocked

- Vickerson, who was 3 of 7 with three RBIs on the weekend, was hit in the head by a pitch in the fourth inning. The senior second baseman was forced to leave the game, but he walked off the field under his own power and was only dazed.

Freshman Adam Frazier entered and had two hits.

Like being at home

- The announced attendance at Russ Chandler Stadium was 1,762, and most of the fans were wearing maroon. While this is Georgia Tech's field, the Yellow Jackets didn't have the homefield advantage.

And MSU was in the home dugout, too, because it had been the home team fewer times than Tech during the regional.
