Nutt didn't think his offensive line, rated among the best in the nation in preseason, was as physical as it needed to be in the scrimmage.
That changed Monday.
"I thought we had our best work day today. We did a really good job of focusing and concentrating."
Nutt singled out the play of freshman wide receiver Tobias Singleton, saying Singleton looked fresh, ran good routes and caught the ball well.
The most surprising depth chart move after the first scrimmage came from freshman offensive lineman Aaron Morris, who has worked his way through an experienced depth chart to take over at left guard.
Morris began camp on the right side and is now learning plays on the left, next to senior Bradley Sowell.
"He was the most physical of all the offensive linemen in the scrimmage, and that's why he's on the first team," Nutt said.
A couple of injuries of note coming out of the scrimmage. Reserve tight end Alex Williams sustained a torn ACL and will miss the season.
Junior college transfer defensive tackle Gilbert Pena has a fractured hand but is expected back in a few days.
