TUPELO – With a busy month ahead, the Coliseum Commission voted to forego waiting on bids to get the BancorpSouth Arena’s roof fixed.

The Arena’s new roof sustained storm damage on Aug. 4, and needs to be replaced. The Arena has already filed a claim with insurance, and once the paperwork is received, work will begin on repairing the roof.

Traditionally the Arena would need to accept bids on the roof work, but with a full schedule of events ahead, the roof needs to be repaired as quickly as possible. The Arena’s Coliseum Commission held an emergency meeting on Wednesday afternoon to approve the move.

Upcoming events at the Arena include concerts by artists like Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and Casting Crowns, performances by Cirque Du Soleil and Disney Live! and the E Extraordinary Women’s Conference featuring guest speaker Sarah Palin.
