TUPELO – Some downtown residents briefly lost water Monday morning after city workers dug into a water main.

The Public Works Department nicked a pipe while digging up old sidewalks to replace them, said Director Sid Russell. The incident occurred on Broadway Street between Clark and Main streets.

It was restored by Tupelo Water & Light, said Manager Johnny Timmons.

Water was lost for about one hour.
