Brewer filed notice Wednesday to appeal to the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
It's not immediately clear on what he will base his appeal.
Brewer, 24, of Corinth pleaded guilty to four counts of a nine-count federal indictment and was sentenced two weeks ago. He also was ordered to pay $2,257 in restitution to his victims.
Brewer was indicted as acting "under color of law" to deprive drivers of their constitutional right against unreasonable search and seizure.
He's due to report to prison in October.
