Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but today might be the day Texas A&M is welcomed into the SEC.

Tony Barnhart, a reputable Atlanta-based college football specialist for CBS and others, tweeted the following on Tuesday:

“Not a done deal yet but announcement on Texas A&M to SEC could come Wednesday. Then the real fun begins.”

A report out of College Station, Texas, asserted that SEC presidents voted 10-2 on Tuesday to admit Texas A&M.

If A&M is admitted, speculation will quickly intensify about a potential 14th member for the SEC. West Virginia and Missouri are among those schools getting hyped as potential SEC expansion targets.

Adding two teams west of the Arkansas campus to the SEC would quickly raise the question of how to realign the divisions in a 14-team SEC.

Alabama and Auburn are the two most eastern of the six teams currently in the SEC Western Division.
