CORINTH — Former Corinth police officer Jamie Brewer has been ordered to report a federal prison in Kentucky by Oct. 14 to begin serving his 46-month sentence for stealing from drivers during fake traffic stops.

Brewer is being sent to Federal Correctional Institution Ashland in Ashland, Ky.

Brewer pleaded guilty to four counts of a nine-count federal indictment and was sentenced Aug. 15. He also was ordered to pay $2,257 in restitution to his victims.

Prosecutors say he acted "under color of law" to deprive drivers of their constitutional right against unreasonable search and seizure.

Brewer recently filed notice to appeal his sentence.
