JACKSON — The Mississippi Supreme Court has upheld the capital murder conviction of a Columbus man.

Michael Shane Richardson was convicted and sentenced to life in prison without parole in Lowndes County in 2010.

Prosecutors said Richardson was charged in the 2006 robbery and beating death of Harvey J. Evans.

Authorities say Evans was attacked with a baseball bat at his home in 2006. Evans died in January 2007.

The Supreme Court rejected all of Richardson's issues on appeal, including that he was not read his rights before he confession of guilt to police.
