SCOOBA - East Mississippi claimed a 17-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in knocking off Itawamba 48-7 on Thursday.

East Mississippi, which moved up eight spots to No. 4 in this week's NJCAA poll, used a pair of touchdown passes from Bo Wallace to build a 38-0 lead at halftime. Former Starkville High tailback Billy Shed had a 15-yard touchdown reception and scored on a four-yard run for the Lions (4-0, 2-0).

Quarterback Darren Daniel scored for Itawamba (0-4, 0-1) on a four-yard run in the third quarter.

"East Mississippi is a good football team and maybe the best in the state and nation," ICC coach Jon Williams said. "We've got to learn from this game, move on and be ready to play next week."

EMCC had 565 yards total offense with 358 through the air. Bo Wallace was 28 of 37 passing for 330 yards. Itawamba was held to 188 total yards with 147 coming on the ground.

ICC hosts Delta next Saturday.
