Louisiana Tech at Mississippi State

KICKOFF: 6 p.m. TV: ESPNU

THE BUZZ: After two straight losses, State gets a

chance to get things back on track against Tech, a team who has been a thorn in MSU’s side over the years. Tech won the last meeting 22-14 in 2008.

NEXT WEEK: Saturday, at Georgia

LAST-MINUTE NEWS: Senior linebacker Brandon Maye,

the Clemson transfer, won’t play today because of a concussion suffered last week in his first start. Back in the starting lineup will be junior Brandon Wilson, who started the first two games and has made 14 tackles this season.

Georgia at Ole Miss

KICKOFF: 11:21 a.m. TV: WCBI

THE BUZZ: After being embarrassed by Vanderbilt last week, Ole Miss is looking for redemption against Georgia today in a game termed by some as the “Hot-seat Bowl.” Houston Nutt has never beaten Georgia, though.

NEXT WEEK: Saturday, at Fresno State

LAST-MINUTE NEWS: Georgia true freshman running

back Isaiah Crowell is likely to see plenty of carries today with junior Richard Samuel hobbled. Crowell, the nation’s top prep running back last year, is far and away the Bulldogs’ leading rusher with 264 yards on 47 carries

with two touchdowns.

Southern Miss at Virginia

KICKOFF: 2:30 p.m. TV: FSS

THE BUZZ: The Golden Eagles are coming off a snoozer against Southeastern Louisiana. USM hits the road for the second time this season and hopes for better results than a Week 2 loss at Marshall. Both quarterbacks have had their problems with interceptions at four apiece.

NEXT WEEK: Saturday, home vs. Idaho

LAST-MINUTE NEWS: Redshirt freshman Jamal Woodyard (5-8, 200) has 153 yards on 26 carries in two games since becoming the backup to starter Kendrick Hardy. The Cavs gave up 222 yards to North Carolina last week in a loss, so look for the Eagles to try to run the ball.
