OXFORD – A woman riding a bicycle west of Oxford was killed Friday morning when she was struck by a vehicle.

Kevser Ermin, 27, was riding east on Old Sardis Road (Highway 314) about a half-mile west of FNC Park when the collision happened shortly after 10 a.m.

A native of Turkey, Ermin was working on a doctorate in health and kinesiology at the University of Mississippi.

Lafayette County Coroner Rocky Kennedy declared Ermin dead of multiple trauma at the scene.

"It's always tragic when we lose one of our students," said Dean of Students Thomas "Sparky" Reardon. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to Kevser's family and friends. We as a university will do whatever we can to assist them in this time of grief."

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
