USM gets funds for pathway project

HATTIESBURG — The University of Southern Mississippi has received $657,000 for a multi-use pathway project.

The funds came from the Mississippi Department of Transportation.

USM plans a pedestrian corridor along the center of campus.

The planned improvements will include a pathway able to accommodate walking, jogging, and cycling.

Work will include brick paving, decorative lighting, benches, bike racks, trash receptacles and emergency call stations.
