Mississippi State basketball coach Rick Stansbury is expected to sign four high school seniors to national letters of intent today, which is the first day of the early signing period.

Guard Josh Gray (Lake Charles, La.), guard Craig

Sword (Montgomery, Ala.), guard Fred Thomas (Jackson) and post player Gavin Ware (Starkville) have all made verbal commitments to the Bulldogs.

Gray dropped his commitment to MSU several weeks ago but reaffirmed it Tuesday.

The State baseball team is expected to sign a handful of players, including Houston catcher/pitcher Jacob Shempert, who committed as a sophomore. The early signing period ends Nov. 16, and the regular signing period starts April 11, 2012.

OLE MISS RECRUITS: The Rebels are expected to sign two basketball prospects today.

Small forward Anthony Cortesia (Montverde, Fla.) and guard Martavious Newby (Memphis) have both given verbal commitments to Ole Miss.

Pontotoc’s Quindella Ford has announced she intends to sign with the Lady Rebels.

The Ole Miss baseball team is expected to sign as many as 13 players in the early period - 10 high school signees and three junior college transfers.
