The beef cattle production class at Mississippi State University runs the auction, which raises money for livestock research programs in the state.
Livestock up for auction includes 33 horses and ponies, 16 bulls, and 20 heifers. Eighteen of the heifers have been bred and are expected to calve between late November and late March.
The auction will be held at the Mississippi Horse Park south of Starkville. The horse sale starts at 10:30 a.m. and the cattle auction at 1 p.m.
During the afternoon cattle sale, there will be interactive video bidding at the Mississippi State University Extension office in Hattiesburg and the Central Mississippi Research and Extension Center in Raymond.
The horses include registered quarter horse weanlings, thoroughbred weanlings, riding horses and hackney ponies ranging from four months to two years old.
The cattle include Angus, Charolais and Hereford bulls, purebred open heifers and commercial bred heifers.
The animals will be available for viewing at the Mississippi Horse Park starting Wednesday afternoon.
