Holiday health challenge

will begin today

The Healthy, Well-thy Holiday Challenge aims for a running start in 2012.

The Healthy, Well-thy Holiday Challenge runs until Jan. 13 at NMMC Wellness Centers located in Baldwyn, Eupora, Iuka, Pontotoc, Tupelo, West Point and Hamilton, Ala.

Enrollment forms are available at www.nmhs.net/holiday_challenge.php or from any Wellness Center. Participants must register for the challenge and weigh in at their local Wellness Center by today. Participants will receive a “Countdown to the New Year Calendar” for recording their success.

Points will be awarded for various activities, with the goal of earning at least 2012 points. Participants who don’t gain weight throughout the challenge will earn a bonus of 250 points.

The Countdown to the New Year Calendars are due between Jan. 9 and 13, 2012. Those who earn at least 2012 points will be eligible for a prize drawing. Participants who fail to earn 2012 points or who gain weight during the challenge are asked to donate $10 to a charity of their choice.

Egg Ball for Kids Count

slated for Nov. 25

Mississippi State fans can join the party the night before the Egg Bowl and help Mississippi’s kids.

The second annual Egg Ball to benefit Mississippi Kids Count will be 7 to 11 p.m. Nov. 25 at the Hunter Henry Center in Starkville. The event includes heavy hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment by the King Beez, and silent and live one-of-a-kind auctions including dinner with MSU coaches, autographed sports memorabilia and a week at a Crested Butte, Colo., vacation lodge.

Birthing Project seeking

2012 mothers-to-be

Northeast Mississippi Birthing Project is now accepting a new class.

The program has room for 20 expectant mothers due in 2012 for the next series of free classes, workshops and community showers.

The program is part of a National Birthing Project and aims to help moms improve their health and well-being as well as their children’s.

HealthWorks! hosts

holiday camps Monday

HealthWorks! will be serving up healthy, holiday fun for kids Monday.

Two day camps will be offered at the children’s health education Center in Tupelo.

“Fall Funanigans,” for ages 5 to 7, will be 9 a.m. to noon and will feature fall-focused activities and crafts.

“Hotty Toddy/Who Let the Dogs Out?” for ages 7 to 11, will be from 1 to 4 p.m. and will feature activities centered around the friendly rivalry between Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
