On Monday, November 28, MDOT will close Southern Heights Road in Lee County in order to complete bridge construction on the new SR 6 overpass. During the closure, traffic will not be allowed access across the new bridge. This closure should take approximately one day to complete.
Additionally, on Tuesday, November 29, MDOT will close South Thomas Street in Lee County in order to complete bridge construction of this overpass at the new SR 6 as well. During this closure, traffic also will not be allowed access across the new bridge. This closure should also take approximately one day to complete.
The project was awarded to Hill Brothers Construction Company, Inc. at the cost of $29 million.
MDOT encourages motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through the work zone. MDOT regrets any inconveniences these closures may cause to the traveling public.
