JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi State Department of Health has approved hospital projects in Gulfport and Charleston.

Memorial Hospital at Gulfport received approval for a $58 million expansion and renovation of its patient tower. Patient rooms on the third, fourth and fifth floors will be enlarged and two new floors of rooms will be added to the tower.

The hospital will have a total of 240 patient rooms once the project is completed.

The beds will be located in the acute care wing of the hospital. There will be no change in the total number of authorized beds at the facility.
