JACKSON - The Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT) would like to announce the rescheduling of some road closures in Lee County.

Due to inclement weather conditions, the road closure for Southern Heights Road and for South Thomas Street in Lee County on the new State Route 6 overpass has been cancelled today and tomorrow. The road closure has been rescheduled for Wednesday, November 30, for Southern Heights Road and Thursday, December 1, for South Thomas Street in order to complete bridge construction on the new State Route 6 overpass.

During these closures, traffic will not be allowed access across the new bridge. These closures should take approximately one day each to complete.

The project was awarded to Hill Brothers Construction Company, Inc. at the cost of $29 million.

MDOT encourages motorists to use extreme caution when traveling through the work zone. MDOT regrets any inconveniences these closures may cause to the traveling public.
