Grant helps Plantersville Police Department traffic safety efforts over Thanksgiving

The Plantersville Police Department enhanced traffic enforcement over the Thanksgiving Holidays using funds and equipment provided by the Department of Public Safety Planning.

This grant paid for two new portable intoxilyzers and 56 man hours of additional patrol coverage. '

An additional grant paid for 2 new portable radios used during the enforcement detail.

The following citations were issued:

Drug Arrest 1

Seatbelt 4

Suspended DL 3

No Insurance 16

Careless Driving 16

Disregard of Traffic Device 8

Other Moving Citations 3

One woman was stopped for careless driving when she was running off the road and crossing into the opposite lane of traffic.

After stopping the car, officers discovered she was attempting to put on makeup while driving.

The woman stated, “I’m a single woman now and I have to look my best.” This woman was also charged for driving without insurance.
