ABERDEEN — A January trial date has been set for a man facing federal charges for allegedly assaulting a Cleveland police officer and possessing drugs.

Tavoris Griffin faces three federal charges related to his arrest on Oct. 27. Court records say he was resisting arrest when he assaulted Cleveland officer Darius Jenkins, who was working with U.S. Marshals. Griffin also is charged with possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and marijuana.

Griffin has pleaded not guilty. The Jan. 9 trial is scheduled to take place in U.S. District Court in Aberdeen.
