Booneville bank robbery suspect in custody

BOONEVILLE – A suspect is in custody with the Booneville Police Department in connection with a Tuesday afternoon robbery at the Farmers and Merchants Bank on East Church Street.

The name of the suspect is not being released pending arraignment expected Wednesday, said Interim Police Chief Michael Ramey.

The robbery was reported about 1:45 p.m. and before 3 p.m. the suspect was taken into custody on Brewer Street, Ramey said. An undisclosed amount of money was taken, and money was recovered on the suspect, he said.

No weapon was seen on the suspect at the time of the robbery and none was recovered on the suspect at the time of his arrest.
