MOOREVILLE - Crystal Lynn Pettigo, 32, died suddenly Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at her dad's home in Shannon. She was born May 13, 1979, in Tupelo to Clarence Russell Reed and Patricia Hall Reed Chambers. She grew up in Mooreville where she attended school and enjoyed all types of outdoor sports. A few of her hobbies included boat riding, horse riding, going to the park and listening to all types of music. She was a loving mother, daughter and sister. She and her children attended North Star Baptist Church in Saltillo.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Nettleton Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Bro. Carl Estes officiating. Private burial will follow in Jones Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to service time Friday.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Joe Pettigo; her grandfather, James Hall; and grandparents, James and Helen Reed.

HOUSTON - John David Thomas, 27, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born Oct. 25, 1984, to David Thomas and Rita and Pete Tackett. OXFORD - Mary Allene Miles Faust, 87, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford. Born in Water Valley, Mrs. Faust was the widow of Mr. William Upson Faust. She was a retired sewing machine operator for Kellwood Manufacturing. She was a member of South Lamar Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday school teacher and 3 year old daycare teacher. She enjoyed working out at Baptist Healthplex.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home in Oxford with Rev. Ron Provence officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery.

WEST POINT - Athen Earley Duke Sr., 94, died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2011, at West Point Community Living Center in West Point. He was born July 14, 1917, in Monroe County to Pearl Brooks and Homer Duke. He was a foreman for Bryan Farms for 41 years. Mr. Duke was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He married Willie Mae Richards Duke on June 11, 1938, in West Point. She preceded him in death May 3, 2000.

ABERDEEN - Helen Marie West Franklin, 77, died on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2011, at Gilmore Memorial Regional Medical Center. Born on Feb. 15, 1934, in Lamar County, Ala., she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Annie Corbell West. She attended Lackey Schools and graduated from Nettleton High School, Class of 1952. She attended Business College in Jackson. Retiring in 1996, she worked as a seamstress with Seminole Garment and South Monroe Sportswear. Mrs. Franklin was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. A one-of-a-kind mother who was very caring and loving, she cherished the time spent with her children and grandchildren. Always seeing the best in everyone, she was a very giving person. She enjoyed gospel music, especially The Gaithers; watching Days of Our Lives; and cooking.
She is survived by her daughters, Teresa Ann Hutchins and Patricia F. Raines (Phillip) of Aberdeen; her sons, David Wayne Hutchins and Joseph Boyd Franklin (Rona) of Aberdeen; sisters, Mary Ann Welch (Aaron) and Margaret Elway of Lackey; brother, James Bruce West (Sarah) of Hamilton; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie "I.B." Franklin; daughter, Sheila Hutchins Stanford; son, Jackie Houston Williams; granddaughter, Jennifer Nicole Stanford; and great-grandson.

She was reared in the Tremont area and had lived in the Kirkville community the past several years. She worked in various factories, most recently at Marietta Manufacturing.
