BOONEVILLE - The acting interim chief of the Booneville Police Department was named chief by the city board this week.

Michael Ramey, who has served as interim chief since Sept. 1 after the Booneville city board voted to fire the former chief, was appointed to the permanent position by a 4-1 vote of the Board of Aldermen on Tuesday.

Ramey, previously a captain of detectives, has been with the department about 15 years and previously served as interim chief for several months in 2009.
