The Mississippi Hound Dogs, a new indoor football team slated to begin play in March, is getting into the holiday spirit.

Head coach Martin Theus rang the bell for the Salvation Army on Friday at the Crosstown Kroger, and he and team members will have a “meet and greet” session inside Barnes Cross Mall from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. today.

The first dance team tryout for the Hound Dogs was this morning in Saltillo. Additional tryouts are planned.

The Hound Dogs will open their season on March 3 at BancorpSouth Arena against the Rome (Ga.) Rampage. The 14-game regular season extends through mid-June.
