TUPELO – Tupelo police officers are investigating a car jacking that occurred on Friday night near North Madison and North Green Streets.

Officers also made an arrest early Saturday morning on an unrelated incident that involved a gunshot fired in city limits. No one was injured from the shot.

The car jacking occurred around 7 p.m. on Friday. The two male victims were on their way to meet two men near Madison and Green streets to sell them clothes. When they got there, a suspect pulled a gun and took the blue Chrysler Aspen SUV from the victims. The suspect told the victims he would leave the vehicle at Oak Creek Apartments, and police recovered it there.

The K9 unit was able to track some clothing that was stolen from the vehicle, but an iPhone 4 and more clothing is still missing. Police are looking for two black males, and no arrests have been made.

The gunshot was fired around 1:30 Saturday morning during a domestic violence incident on West Jackson.

Police were called after a man and his wife had gotten into an argument and the woman retrieved a Smith and Wesson 38 revolver from a vehicle and fired a shot into the air. The shot did not hit anyone.

Tupelo police arrested the woman for domestic violence. Her name has not been released. The gun was also taken into custody.
