CLEVELAND — Delta State has hired Jamey Chadwell as its next football coach.

The 35-year-old Chadwell comes to the Statesmen after three seasons at North Greenville (S.C.) University. Chadwell led North Greenville's transition to NCAA Division II three years ago, and this season finished with an 11-3 record after losing in the NCAA quarterfinals to Delta State.

Chadwell has a 22-14 career record with 20 of those wins coming in the past two seasons. North Greenville's offense averaged more than 40 points per game this season.

Delta State recently finished an 11-3 season, losing in the NCAA semifinals to Pittsburg (Kan.) State. Coach Ron Roberts left after the season to take the same job at Southeastern Louisiana, a program that plays at the Football Championship Subdivision level.
