East Mississippi Community College quarterback Bo Wallace has given a verbal commitment to Ole Miss, web sites Scout and Rivals reported Tuesday evening.

Wallace (6-foot-4, 210) set community college records for passing yards (4,467) and touchdowns (53) in leading EMCC to the national championship.

He was redshirted during the 2010 season at Arkansas State – where new Ole Miss coach Hugh Freeze was then offensive coordinator – before transferring. He will enroll in the spring and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Wallace told Scout.com that his familiarity with the Freeze offense was a big reason he committed to the Rebels over Mississippi State. He believes that gives him an advantage in a competition for the starting job that presently includes returning quarterbacks Randall Mackey, Zack Stoudt and Barry Brunetti. All three started games last fall under former coach Houston Nutt.

Prior to Arkansas State, Wallace played for Giles County High School in Pulaski, Tenn.
