Rico Fleming was returned to Marshall County early Thursday after being arrested in St. Louis, Mo., on Tuesday. He is charged with murder and five counts of drive-by shooting in connection with a Dec. 25 shooting that killed 16-year-old Derica Patterson.
Rico Fleming, 22, of Rossville, Tenn., arrived back in Mississippi about 1 a.m. Thursday, said Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson. His bond was set at $1 million today.
Dickerson said Fleming waived extradition Wednesday and was brought back from Missouri. Fleming was arrested Tuesday in St. Louis by the U.S. Marshals Service.
Fleming is the third person charged in the shooting death of Derica Patterson. Corey Albright, 31, of Rossville, Tenn., and a 16-year-old juvenile are also charged in the case. All three are charged with one count of murder and multiple counts of drive-by shooting. A preliminary hearing for the teenager has been set for Feb. 6.
The drive-by shooting took place shortly before 3 a.m. Christmas Day along U.S. Highway 72 just west of Slayden in Marshall County. Patterson died on the scene. Four others were wounded and one was unhurt.
Dickerson said Fleming was tracked at about 5:50 p.m. Tuesday to the St. Louis home of a cousin. Fleming was arrested without incident.
"He had a female to come out of the house and basically admit that he was in the house and he wanted her to let officers know that he was not armed," said Christopher Felix with the Marshall County Sheriff's Department.
