PONTOTOC – Joshua A. Matthews, 29, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at North Mississippi Medical Center. Joshua was born December 17, 1982 and attended Tupelo public schools, South Pontotoc Schools, ICC and Northeast Community College. He worked in construction and the furniture industry. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. Since March of 2010 Josh has been paralyzed from the result of an auto accident and has been an inspiration to all who knew him. He continued life as if nothing had happened. The accident did not slow him down. He was independent, he rode 4-wheelers, water skied, hunted and fished. He was an avid Ole Miss fan, attending many Ole Miss games, his wheelchair wasn’t going to stop him from attending those anticipated football games. Even in death, he continued his giving by becoming an organ donor. Four lives were saved by this gift of life.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home with Fred Hartley and Randy Kolb and Pat Ewing officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove.
Survivors include his mother, Linda Carmack (Ikey); his father, Ronnie Matthews; his brother, Chris Malone (Ally); his grandmother, Lucille Matthews; nephews, Kaleb Hayes, Gabe, Sawyer and niece, Maynor. And his special friend, Courtney Clayton.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Andrew Matthews, Leo Wilder; his grandmother, Jennie Wilder, his uncles, Bobby, Normal and Bennie Ray Matthews.
Pallbearers will be Michael, Shane Jaggers, Robert Copeland, Josh Keith, Jimmie Hendrix, John Cruse, Jeff Matthews. Honorary pallbearers are Leo Mask and Ollice Dean White and Bunny Copeland.

RANDOLPH – Brenda Lou Walton, 54, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012. Services are set for 11 a.m. today at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home in Pontotoc with Bro. Tootie Ward officiating. Burial will follow in Robbs Cemetery.

HICKORY FLAT – Jerry Daniel West, 49, died Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2012, at his residence. He was born July 17, 1962, in Holly Springs to James and Margaret Byers West. He was a brick layer.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at United Funeral Service with Rev. Jason Howell officiating. Burial will be in Amaziah Cemetery in Myrtle.
He is survived by his wife, Connie Cato West; two stepsons, David Little and Jeff Little, both of Hickory Flat; two sisters, Judy Smith of Hickory Flat and Janie Ash of Potts Camp; five brothers, James West, Larry West, Stanley West, Toby West and Joey West, all of Hickory Flat; and two stepgrandchildren, Jessica R. Little and Cody L. Little.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Helen; and three brothers, Jim West, Buddy West and Ben West.
Pallbearers will be Larry Cato, Jeff Little, David Little, Tim Gullick, Stanley West, and Joseph West.

OXFORD – Rev. Jimmy Lee Sockwell, 67, died Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford.
Services will be at 2 .m. Tuesday at New El Bethel Baptist Church. Burial will follow in New El Bethel Cemetery. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

MABEN – Bernaceteen Beauchamp Edwards, 72, died on Sunday, Jan. 15, 2012, at her home. She was born April 17, 1939, in Attala County to Ruby Lee Adams and Walter Mitchell Beauchamp. She was a Nursing Home Aide and a member of Maben Church of God. She married Bobby Henry Edwards on February 6, 1955, in West Point.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Sam Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in Pheba Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Bobby H. Edwards, Sr. of Maben; her four daughters, Barbara Edwards of Eupora, Mary Lucas (Jimmy) of Maben, Carolyn Pennington (Robert) of Houston and Cindy Alsobrooks (Jason) of West Point; her three sons, Richard Lynn Edwards (Betty) of Eupora, Bobby H. Edwards, Jr. (Mae) of Vernon, Ala., David W. Edwards (April) of West Point; 23 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; her brother, Michell Lavone Beauchamp (Rose) of Kosciusko.
Preceding her in death were three brothers, Charles Beauchamp, Raymond Beauchamp and Kenneth Beauchamp; and two sisters, Mildred Jenkins and Bettyemerle Rush.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Danny Ray Beauchamp, Dennis Rush Beauchamp, Jerorme Beauchamp, Johnny Beauchamp, Rush Beauchamp, Heath Beauchamp, Brian Beauchamp, Adam Beauchamp, and Harvey Lawrence. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren.

Edward Bradley
CORINTH – Edward Earl “Ed” Bradley, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on Jan. 10, 1935, to M.C. "Mutt" and Edith Benjamin Bradley. He served his country in the U.S. Army, was a truck driver for the Corinth Street Department, from which he retired after 13 years, and was partners with his brothers in Bradley's Body Shop. He enjoyed fishing, working in the yard, watching NASCAR, and spending time with his family.
Services are set for 2 p.m. today at McPeters Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Merl Dixon and James Moffitt officiating.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years, Clara Jewel Bradley; two sons, Eric Bradley (Kim) and Randy Lane Odle; one brother, Danny Bradley (Sue); three sisters, Clara Bennett (Johnny), Joyce Holley (Jimmy), and Jeanette Kirk; four grandchildren, Morgan and Paige Bradley, and Brandon and Joshua Odel; special friend, Raymond Glidewell; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Carter, Abram Nelson "Red", Amon and Maurice Bradley; and two nephews, Jason and Steve Bradley, the sons of Maurice.

IUKA – Lisa Diane Dean, 47, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2012, at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Iuka. She was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church and a cosmetologist. She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren. Services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fifth Street Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Tony Curtis and Bro. Robert Armstrong. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Kenneth Dean of Iuka; her father, Tommy Joe Pickle of Selmer, Tenn.; one son, Joseph Dean of Iuka; one daughter, Kendra Dean of Iuka; one brother, Joey Pickle (Delana) of Farmington; and three grandchildren, Jada Dean, Aden Dean, and Anniston Tensley, all of Iuka.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth Pickle; and her father-in-law, H.W. “Duck” Dean.

She is survived by a daughter, Helen Shelton (George Thomas) of Blue Springs; a son, Rickey Joe Thomas (Mary) of Keownville; a brother, Rayford Hall of El Reno, Okla.; a daughter-in-law, Mavis Thomas of New Albany; a son-in-law, Manuel Crossen of New Albany; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Corbert Thomas; her second husband, Junior Fortune; three children, Barbara Ann Thomas, Alma Von Crossen and Boyce Ray Thomas; six sisters and five brothers.

CALHOUN CITY – Mary Faye McCombs, 84, died Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 30, 1927. She was a registered nurse and was a member of MS Nurses Assoc. and the Big Creek Quilting Club. She was a member of Grace Southern Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Otho and Lillian Avie Hill; and her husband, Austin McCombs.
