OXFORD — Mississippi prosecutors have asked a judge to deny bond to a Tennessee man, who is charged in the shooting death of Memphis teenager in a Christmas Day drive-by shooting in Marshall County.

Authorities say a bond hearing is scheduled Monday for Rico R. Fleming in the Lafayette County Circuit Court in Oxford.

Assistant district attorney Christine Tatum will ask that a $1 million bond set during Fleming's initial appearance in Marshall County Justice Court be denied.

Fleming was a fugitive for 17 days after the shooting that claimed 16-year-old Derica Patterson. Fleming was arrested at the home of a distant cousin in St. Louis, and he was returned to Marshall County Sheriff's custody last week.

Two other people are charged in the incident.
