Jan Schaefer, a spokeswoman for Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood, says that the email suggests the recipient will get a cash grant or donation for their personal business development or education.
The recipient is instructed to contact the Ford Foundation with their "full data and contacts" at an email address in the body of the email.
Schaefer says the email is not from the Ford Foundation and that the foundation doesn't give out unsolicited funds.
