Mississippi State freshman Rodney Hood has a deep bone bruise in his left knee, MRI tests revealed Wednesday.

Hood got hurt during MSU's 73-64 loss to No. 1 Kentucky on Tuesday. A team spokesman said there were no torn ligaments and no fracture, and added that the news is "very good considering it's a knee and the pain he was in."

MSU isn't sure when Hood will return. With three games left in the regular season and an NCAA tournament at-large berth at stake, the Bulldogs will need him back quickly, as there's little depth at the three-guard spot.

Hood is averaging 11.0 points and 4.9 rebounds per game, both third on the team.
