Kirksey, Sepulveda spark No. 16 Rebels against JSU

OXFORD – Zach Kirksey and Kody Sepulveda both homered to lift No. 16 Ole Miss to 13-1 win against Jackson State on Wednesday.

Josh Laxer (1-0) picked up his first victory by allowing one run on five hits in four innings for the Rebels (7-1).

Quintavious Drains (1-2) suffered the loss for Jackson State, allowing three runs on two hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Drains gave up a three-run shot to Kirksey in the second inning.

The Rebels added four runs in the fifth frame and three more in the sixth.

Ole Miss hosts Miami (Ohio) in a three-game series this weekend.

Memphis 7, Mississippi State 6: Jacob Wilson collected four hits, including a home rur to fuel the Tigers.

Memphis scored the winning run in the top of the ninth off Bulldog pitcher Caleb Reed (0-

2).

The Bulldogs (6-2) host Connecticut on Friday.
