MEMA, volunteer groups aid storm victims in Tallahatchie and Yalobusha counties

PEARL — Mississippi Emergency Management Agency staffers and volunteer groups have gone to in north Mississippi to help people whose homes were damaged by storms last week.

Initial damage reports sent to the State Emergency Operations Center in Pearl show nearly two-dozen homes in Tallahatchie and Yalobusha counties were destroyed or sustained major damage, and another three dozen had minor damage from storms Thursday.

It says 14 homes in Tallahatchie County were destroyed and another seven had major damage. Twenty-four had minor damage. In Yalobusha County, a storm destroyed one home, did major damage to two and minor damage to 11.
