Cherry told authorities that Hunt stepped into the road once she was close.

The accident took place at 8:44 a.m. near the Lee County and Itawamba County line in the Evergreen Community.

Cherry was wearing her seat belt and uninjured. She was traveling north at the time of the accident.

Mayo said there Cherry's cell phone was not in use at the time of the accident.

Officials are investigating the accident and no other information is available at this time.
