Ellis’ statement essentially serves as a closing argument to the hearing appealing his termination. That hearing was held over 10 days during December, January and February. Monday’s address will be given in executive session because it includes student, faculty, administrator and others’ names.
The school board will make a determination about whether or not Ellis will be reinstated to his job, but they are not expected to rule on Monday.
The board will also meet at the school district office on Sunday at 3 to discuss the testimony from the hearing. That meeting will likely be in executive session because it involves a personnel issue.
The board has received the 2,400-page transcript from the hearing. Board attorney Otis Tims said "the board is moving as rapidly as it can, with concern for fairness."
He said that the board could vote on the issue some time within the next week.
