An Elvis Presley statue sports a mustache in the foreground as participants, from left, Lindsey Wardlow, Sharon Boudreaux and Bill Young mingle during the Tupelo Mustache Bash at the GumTree Museum of Art on Friday.

The event, featuring portraits of civic leaders with digitally added mustaches, a public shaving, live music and food was a fundraiser for the museum and the Autism Center of Tupelo.

Kit Stafford, curator of the museum, called the event a fun way for the museum to interact with the community. “It’s a chance to have fun raising money for two worthy causes, and it proves we don’t take ourselves too seriously," Stafford said.
