The Ole Miss softball team scored its first win over a ranked team this season, beating No. 24 Auburn 6-1 on Sunday in Oxford.

Senior Kendall Bruning (12-9) allowed just two hits and one run in a seven-inning complete game and Brittany Broome had three singles and scored three runs, one on a steal of home in the sixth.

Ole Miss (15-18, 3-8 SEC) had a 7-2 edge in hits on Auburn, which made three errors.

MSU falls: Mississippi State (19-18, 3-13) stranded 10 runners in Sunday’s 9-3 loss to No. 2 Alabama. The Bulldogs had a 9-6 edge in hitting, but the Tide took control with six runs in the fourth.

MSU has lost nine straight SEC games.
