Rainy weather left both of the state’s SEC baseball teams idle on Tuesday night.

The Ole Miss game against Southern Miss at Trustmark Park in Pearl was postponed after more than an hour’s wait.

The rain began about 30 minutes prior to the first pitch and it continued to rain up until the game was called at 7:07 p.m.

Mississippi State’s home game with Mississippi Valley State was postponed in the afternoon, due to anticipated weather troubles.

The teams will make up the game as part of a doubleheader on May 8.

No. 10 Ole Miss (20-8, 5-4) will visit Kentucky for a three game series beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The Wildcats are ranked No. 1 this week by Collegiate Baseball and No. 8 by Baseball America.

Mississippi State (18-11, 3-6 SEC) will return to league play this weekend when it hosts Vanderbilt.
