SALTILLO – The city of Saltillo is encouraging its residents to engage in a little spring cleaning.

During April, a Dumpster will be behind City Hall so residents can get rid of bigger junk items for free.

“We allow the citizens to bring any garbage, short of tires, batteries and hazardous materials,” said Brian Grissom, Saltillo building and zoning administrator. “We just want to encourage people to take care of things and help with the beautification of Saltillo.”

The Dumpster costs the city about $1,000 for the month but selling discarded scrap metal helps recoup most of the cost.

The Dumpster is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturdays during April. It will be closed today and Saturday for Easter.
