Author-physician focuses on fighting fatigue
“Fight Fatigue-Maximize Your Energy” will be the topic of the North Mississippi Medical Center Woman’s Place Lunchtime Learning Series at noon Thursday, April 19, at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, located at the corner of Jefferson and Church streets.
Dr. Mary Ann Bauman, author of “Fight Fatigue-Six Simple Steps to Maximize Your Energy,” will be the guest speaker. According to Dr. Bauman, fatigue is the No. 1 reason women go to the doctor, and often medical testing offers no clues to the cause. Her discussion will focus on the link between emotional and physical health, as well as common “energy thieves” and the reasons women overextend themselves time after time.
An internal medicine physician, Dr. Bauman received her medical degree from Wayne State University in Detroit in 1978. For nine years, she served in a variety of teaching, practice and medical school faculty administrative positions. She currently serves as medical director for Women’s Health and Community Relations for INTEGRIS Health Inc. in Oklahoma, where she has served since 1991.
Dr. Bauman has been quoted about energy, fatigue and preventive health issues in national publications including Cosmopolitan, Health, Family Circle, and WebMD, and she often speaks on television and radio programs.
Advance registration is required for the lunchtime program, which is sponsored by the Health Care Foundation of North Mississippi. Lunch will be provided for $5 for those who pre-register by April 13. To register or to learn more about upcoming lunchtime learning programs, call (800) 843-3375.
