Child involved in Lee County ATV crash dies

VERONA – A 2-year-old who was involved in Saturday’s four-wheeler crash in Verona has died.

The Shelby County coroner notified the Lee County Sheriff’s Office the child died at 12:17 p.m. today from injuries sustained in the crash.

Two other Northeast Mississippi children were treated at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis from their injuries. They were still hospitalized Tuesday and their conditions were unknown Wednesday.

A 13-year-old Nettleton child, 10-year-old Shannon child, 2-year-old Plantersville child and a 9-year-old Amory child were riding a 1998 Honda Fourtrax ATV near the South Lee Industrial Park when the ATV driver pulled in front of a truck.

The Amory child was treated and released from North Mississippi Medical Center.
