The Mississippi High School Activities Association’s proposed legislation to expand the state basketball tournament, which included using a second venue along with Jackson’s Mississippi Coliseum, failed to receive enough votes at Thursday’s legislative council meeting in Clinton.
The proposal passed at the February meeting, but needed to pass a second time to become part of the 2013 handbook.
Tupelo submitted a bid earlier this month to the MHSAA to host the Class 1A and 2A boys and girls tournaments next season.
